Tracy Stafford returns from Buenos Aires

Tracy teaches tango June & July Tracy is back once again this summer to share her passion & perspective of Tango, bringing all the rich knowledge & history from her teachers in Buenos Aires. She’ll be leading classes at PCCL on Mondays & Thursdays from June 16-July 31. Class details are below. Many of you already know Tracy, who came here last year to share her gleanings from the birthplace of tango. Before moving to BA in 2019, Tracy was the owner of Integration Pilates Studio, where not only did she teach yoga, Pilates, dance, meditation, & functional exercise, she also held monthly milongas for the Edmonton tango community. Before that, she danced professionally in the Toronto area, where she earned her BFA in ballet & Contemporary Dance from York University. This is all to say that Tracy is extremely passionate about dance, tango, teaching, and sharing :) Monday Class 7-8pm, followed by the práctica until 10pm The focus on this day will be on how to play with the steps that we already know by emphasizing musicality, connection, & floor craft. We’ll be working with some of the most emblematic songs in the tango repertoire, allowing us to squeeze more juice out of our dancing. Thursday class is 1.5 hours, from 7-8:30, with a 1 hour práctica following until 9:30. The first 1/2 hour will be on personal practice. I’ll be leading exercises to help both leaders & followers improve their tango posture, breath, balance, control, and groundedness. This will be a great practice for dancers to keep for years to come. The next hour will focus on getting more comfortable with dancing in an elastic embrace - moving from open to closed depending on the context of the dance. We’ll continue to play with steps, musicality, connection, and expression using classic tango songs as our base. Embellishments & adornos for both leaders & followers will be explored. We will also explore the unique characteristics of dancing milonga & vals on top of tango. A práctica follows until 9:30.
